Bangladeshi expatriates sent home US$1,127.36 million as remittance in September of the current fiscal 2018-19, according to a BSS report quoting Bangladesh Bank (BB) data.
In September this fiscal, six state-owned commercial banks- Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, Basic and BDBL- received $289.67 million while one state-owned specialised bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, received $12.82 million.
Of the state-owned banks, Agrani received $113.18m, Janata $69.19m, Rupali $25.31m, Sonali $81.92m, and Basic $0.07m. Besides, the expatriates have sent $814.08m through private commercial banks. Among the private commercial banks, Islami Bank received the highest amount of $226.45m as Dutch-Bangla Bank received $58.78m.
