College girl ‘gang raped’ for month after abduction

RAJSHAHI: A college girl has allegedly been 'gang raped' for over a month in Savar of Dhaka after her abduction from Ratul village of Durgapur upazila in the district, reports UNB.

Sub-inspector of Durgapur Police Station Naimul Hasan on Wednesday said they arrested a man -- Liton Miah of Singra in Natore -- over the matter.

Some miscreants abducted the victim, a student of Durgapur Women's College, on her way to college on August 24, took her to Savar, kept her confined to a dark room and raped her in turns, he said.

Victim's family filed a case against Liton after the girl went missing as he had been engaged in conversation with the victim over cell phone.

Later, acting on a tip-off, Durgapur police along with Savar police rescued the girl on September 27 from the room. Meanwhile, the victim who was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital said three more girls were also kept confined to the same room.
