The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) withdrew the suspension order of four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). JU Public Relation Office confirmed the matter through a press release yesterday. The university authority suspended the four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in connection with beating up a student of the university on the campus. The suspended students were Shuvashish Ghosh of Bangla department and Ya Rafiu Shikder, Mustafizur Rahman and Sohel Rana of Public Administration department.
About the release, JU Registrar Rahima Kaniz said, “On Tuesday, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam suspended them by exercising her executive power. Now she has withdrawn the order. It is her personal decision. We don’t know about the matter”.
Earlier, Mahmudul Haque Shohag, a masters student of Journalism and Media Studies department and campus correspondent of an online news portal, was allegedly beaten up by some BCL activists at Swimming Pool area on the campus on September 24. Later, he filed a complaint to JU authority. Following the incident, on Tuesday the university authorities suspended four BCL activists following the primary probe report of proctorial body.
