The run fest continued in the National Cricket League (NCL) as the country’s first class cricket league witnessed six centuries on the third day of the first round fixture at different grounds across the country yesterday.

Of them, national discard Rony Talukdar racked up an unbeaten double century after Ariful Haque in the season-opening tournament of the domestic cricket calendar that is the highlight of the Day-3.

Rony Talukdar’s scintillating unbeaten 228 after Abdul Mazid’s 132, Dhaka Division took a massive 581-run lead before declaring their second innings against Chattogram in Tier-2 fixture at Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.

At Rajshahi’s green-tinged wicket, the local Rajshahi Divisional side put on an inclusive 552 against holders Khulna Division in Tier-1 match.

In other Tier-1 match of Barisal Division at Bogura’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium against Rangpur Division drifted towards a draw after the latter clawed back by a couple of centuries from Fazle Mahmud Rabbi (not out 130) and Sohag Gazi (128).

Elsewhere, at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the home side still required 62 runs to overtake Dhaka Metro’s first innings total collection in Tier-2 outing.

Dhaka vs Chattogram

Resuming the third day on 176 for no loss, Dhaka Division added 209 runs before being declared their second innings for 385-1, meaning they put on 350 runs for the opening stand and their lead stood at a mammoth 481 following their first innings total 234.

Opener Abdul Mazid converted his overnight 66 to 132 off 288 deliveries with 14 boundaries and two sixes. But Rony carried on from 100 to strike an unbeaten double hundred. His unbeaten innings of 252-ball 228, emblazoned with 18 boundaries and seven sixes. Saif Hassan was on not out 13.

Chasing the stiff target of 482 to win, Chattogram Division mislaid three wickets to muster 135 in 39 overs. After losing Irfan Sukkur cheaply, Sadikur Rahman and Mominul Haque, who fell for 62, walked back to the pavilion.

Tasamul Haque was batting on 33 not out with Sayed Sarker scoring six. The port city managed to require 347 for winning when they have a day and seven wickets left for them.

Rajshahi vs Khulna

Khulna Division scored 182 for two in their second innings after Rajshahi Division made 552 for all-out in first innings. The holders, who collected only 210 runs in first innings, has required 160 more runs to overtake the local side.

Anamul Haque Bijoy in association with Tushar Imran hit 158 for the third-wicket stand after losing Robiul Islam Robi and Afif Hossain cheaply. Bijoy remained unbeaten on 72. Tushar Imran clouted his back-to-back but 30th century at domestic circuit. His 133-ball unbeaten century laced with 12 fours and one six.

Rangpur vs Barisal

Barisal Division added 293 runs at the exchange of four wickets with overnight 91-1. Fazle Mahmud Rabbi made an invaluable 226 with sixth-wicket stand after losing Rafsan Mahmud, Mohammad Al Amin and Salman Hossain Emon. Rafsan among the fallen wickets clubbed 59 before caught behind.

Sohag Gazi lashed 128 off 154 with 15 fours and two sixes. Rabbi remained at stumps on 130 off 324 with 11 boundaries and one six.

Mahmudul Hasan Liton picked up two wickets for Rangpur Division, conceding 64 runs.

Metro vs Sylhet

Sylhet Division in second innings put up 149 for four after their first innings 215 in response to Dhaka Metro’s first innings collection 426.

Rajin Saleh blasted an indefatigable half-century after Jakir Hasan, who struck a patient 129-ball 72 before being caught.

Rajin smashed half-a-dozen boundaries in his unbeaten 155-ball knock while Alok Kapali scoring on nine not out.
