3.6 lakh BNP men sued in Sept: Rizvi

4,108 ‘fictitious’ cases filed in the month, he says

BNP yesterday alleged that the party's around 3.58 lakh leaders and activists have been made accused in about 4,108 'ghostly' cases in September alone, reports UNB.

Like the government, police now have turned into a non-factual data production factory. As per the information we've so far, around 4,108 cases were filed in the last month accusing 3.58 lakh people, said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Speaking at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office, he said at least 4,483 leaders and activists were arrested during the same period.

Rizvi criticised Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader for his comment that a case was filed with Hatirjheel Police Station against top BNP leaders on charge of working out plots for carrying out subservice acts, saying it is a false and fabricated allegation.

He alleged that the government is using law enforcers like its party cadres to suppress its political opponents.

The BNP leader also slammed Prime Minister's adviser HT Imam for what he said providing 'weird' information that Awami League has 42 percent vote while BNP 30 percent.

Where did he get such fictitious statistics? People are eager to know whether these bizarre information are produced by him or by Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, he quipped.

Rizvi said HT Imam urged the ruling party leaders and activists to be aggressive while carrying out election campaign not only against the election code of conduct, but also tantamount to instigating Awami League leaders and activists to indulge in violence. He also said the Prime Minister's political adviser's such comment has indicated that the next election will be held without the participation of voters.

The BNP leader alleged that their party chairperson Khaleda Zia has been deprived of treatment in jail as part of the government's evil plan.
