BGB seize 16 gold bars in Jessore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 16 gold bars weighing 1.6 kilograms and detailed a youth at Benapole land port yesterday, said Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of 26 Border Guard Battalion.
The BGB CO said the gold bars were found hidden inside soles of sandal of one Hanif Ali at Gatipara in Benapole. “The gold bars, worth about Tk 70 lakh, were being smuggled into India,” he said.
The BGB official said a legal step is being taken in this respect.
