Stocks end positive despite pre-Eid dull trade

Stock market ended pre-Eid trading yesterday marginally up though the daily transaction at the country’s premier bourse fell to a nearly one month low on lackluster trading, reports BSS.
The daily trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was around 30.0 per cent down to Tk 364.70 crore  yesterday while the trade volume was lower by over 17.0 per cent to 8.76 crore shares.
Investors followed the general strategy to purchase equities on the last trading session prior to Eid holiday, said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited, adding that by becoming aware of the market direction, investors remained in sideline, which pushed down the day’s turnover value to almost one month’s low.
IDLC Investment Limited said the last trading session before Eid vacation remained mundane amid sluggish investors’ participation.Price of 150 securities closed higher on the day, but the increment in the indices was minimal because of low level of price appreciation in the advancing issues. The DSEX ended the day 11.68 points up at 4853.29 when the DS30 and DSES ended flat at 1860.36 and 1191.04 respectively.
Among the major sectors food and allied, fuel and power and textile advanced while miscellaneous and mutual funds were down.
BSRM Steel topped the turnover list followed by KPCL, BSRM LTD, Lafarge Surma Cement, United Air, Beximco Pharma and Aman Feed.
The top five gainers at close were Apex Spinning, BD Lamps, Renwick, Northern Jute and Anwaer Galvanising and the major lagging issues at close were Beach Hatchery, Kay Que, MTB, ICB1stNRB and Power Grid.
KPCL topped the turnover list followed by BSRM Steel, Beximco Pharma, United Air, Saif Power and Aman Feed.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) maintained upward trend on Tuesday, with its major CSCX index closing 29.60 points up at 9047.70.
Out of the traded 247 issues, 133 ended higher and 76 lower when 84 lakh shares worth Tk 30 crore changed hands.
