Three days after they were closed to the District Police Lines, six policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, of Pirganj Police Station were suspended yesterday over extortion charges, reports UNB. Police super of Thakurgoan Farhat Ahmed took the action against sub-inspectors Nur Alam and Mamun, and constables Geof Ahmed, Abdul Jalil, Sohagh and Monoranjan. Police said locals caught the policemen while they were taking toll from a motorcycle at Gogarhat on Pirganj-Ranishankail road in Ranishankail on September 17. The angry mob assaulted them before informing the police station. On information, officers-in-charge of Ranishankail and Pirganj Police Stations Shukumar Mohanta and KM Shawkat Ali respectively rushed in and rescued them.
