Missing BCL leader found dead
Police on Monday morning recovered the body of a local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader, who went missing when a boat capsized after being hit by a sand-laden trawler in the Bongshi River in Bank Town area of Savar on Saturday evening.The victim was Didarul Arefin Pinak, former joint general secretary of Ashuliya unit of BCL and son of Abdul Malek, a resident of Arpara area in the municipality. Police recovered the body from the river in the morning, said Rasel Sheikh, assistant superintendent of Savar Model Police Station. Earlier, the boat carrying five BCL leaders capsized in the area in the evening after being hit by a trawler on Saturday evening. They were returning home after a boat journey from Keraniganj. Four other BCL leaders managed to swim ashore but Pinak and the boatman went missing after the incident.

Woman held with yaba tablets

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged female drug trader with 1500 yaba tablets in Puthiya Bus Stand area of Rajshahi on Sunday afternoon, RAB sources said yesterday.The arrestee person was Sabina Akhtar, 26, hailing from Kharizabari village under Dashmina Upazila of Patuakhalia district. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid at the area around 5.40 pm and arrested her with the contraband item. A case was recorded with Puthiya Police Station in this connection and the seized goods and arrested person were handed over to the police.

One arrested with hemp
Police arrested a drug peddler with one kg hemp from Rallygate area of Khulna  city on Sunday night. On a tip-off, Daulatpur thana police raided the area and arrested Golam Rabbani Bitu, 55, while he was taking preparation to sell hemp to customers. A case was filed with Daulatpur Police station in this connection.
