RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a workshop here yesterday said the traffic victims need access to family and social integration in order to eradicate their plights and vulnerabilities in the society besides getting back to the normal life. They viewed that the traffic victims and survivors are subjected to repression and oppression by their surroundings so there should be effective and time-fitting measures of ensuring access to family and social integration. Proper enforcement of the existing laws has become an urgent need to address the problem. There should also be proper and effective measures for rehabilitation of the traffic victims, they added. Sachetan Rajshahi, a rights-based organisation, organised the workshop styled “Service Provider mapping and referral mechanism establish to develop district directories” held at a city hotel. “Bangladesh Counter Trafficking-In-Persons” Project supported the meeting in association with USAID and Winrock International. Main objective of the workshop was to establish a comprehensive service provider mapping and referral mechanism and to find out appropriate services option for survivors of trafficking to ensure promotion and promotion of the human rights of trafficked persons in all circumstances. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, who addressed the meeting as the chief guest, stressed the need for collective efforts of all government and non-government organisations concerned to check the human trafficking.
