Citibank has joined hands with Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecom-munication (SWIFT) to connect to the new Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, an electronic platform for the continuous settlement of high value and multi-currency cash payments between banks, says a press release.
Moinul Huq, director and head treasury and trade solutions, Citibank, said that using the SWIFT channel will enable Citibank to seamlessly integrate our back-office systems with the new Bangladesh Bank RTGS to clear and settle critical high value payments for our customers in a highly secure and reliable manner.
SWIFT is a member-owned cooperative that provides the communications platform, products and services to connect more than 10,800 banking organisations, securities institutions and corporate customers in more than 200 countries and territories.
