A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Shimrail in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj early yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Farid Mia alias Fenci Farid, a top listed drug trader of the area, and son of Balai Mia of Tarabo in Rupganj upazila.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-11 raided in the area. Sensing presence of RAB, the criminals opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, said Alep Uddin, senior assistant director of RAB-11.
Farid sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight. Later, he was taken to Narayanganj General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Two Rab members were injured in the incident, he added. One pistol, bullets and some Yaba pills were recovered.
