Grand muharat of ‘Gangchil’ held

On the birth anniversary of the late iconic hero, Salman Shah, the grand muharat of the film ‘Gangchil’ was held at the Dhaka Club yesterday.

Dedicated to the legendary hero of Bangladesh, ‘Gangchil’ will be made jointly by two production houses namely Nuzhat Films and Icchemoto, owned by Ferdous Ahmed and Nayeem Imtiaz Neyamul, respectively.

DhakaLive has news that based on the novel titled ‘Gangchil’, written by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, the film will be directed by Nayeem Imtiaz Neyamul. The shooting will begin in October.

In his speech, Ferdous dedicated the movie to the late actor as the muharat of the film was coincidently held on the birth anniversary of Salman. Ferdous remembered the contribution of the late hero to the film industry.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the muharat in the presence of Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and State Minister for Information Tarana Halim. Actors Ferodus, Rituparna Sengupta, Dilara Hanif Purnima, Tariq Anam Khan, Shelly Manna and the cast and crew of the film were present on the occasion. The muharat was hosted by Hridi.

Ferdous said, “I am grateful to honourable minister Obaidul Quader for giving us his novel for the film. I am also thankful to my friends Rituparna and Purnima because even though they come from different lines, but still hearing the script, they agreed to perform in the film. Neyamul was always by my side. On the whole, I believe that the film will be of international standards, which will be awarded both inside and outside of the country.”

Purnima said, “This is the first time I’m working under Neyamul’s direction. Ferdous is a very good friend of mine and I am going to act under his production house. In both of the films ‘Jam’ and ‘Gangchil’, Ferdous is acting with me. For this, I am really enjoying my return to the big screen.”

“I have always tried to be a bridge between the two Bengals, because I have never seen Bengal being partitioned like others. To me, both the Bengals create the one and only Bengal”, Rituparna said.

After a hiatus of nine years, Ferdous and Purnima will be sharing screen presence once again. Alongside, celebrated actress Rituparna will be seen in the film. The screenplay and dialogues of ‘Gangchil’ has been written by Maruf Rehman.

In the film, Ferdous will be seen playing the role of a journalist named Sagor, and Purnima will be portraying the character of NGO worker Mohona.
