Two-day law conference held at DU
The two-day 1st Senior Advocate Ozair Farooq memorial law conference, Law, Justice and Society, held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. The DU Faculty of Law organised the event. DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while Attorney General Advocate Mahbubey Alam and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Advocate Zainul Abedin addressed it as special guests. Former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, Prof Dr Muhammad Ekramul Haque and Barrister Mohammad Imtiaz Farooq also spoke on the occasion. Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof Dr Md Rahmat Ullah delivered the welcome speech while acting Chairman of the Law department Prof Dr Md Nazrul Islam gave the vote of thanks. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain recalled the outstanding contribution of late Advocate Ozair Farooq to promoting legal profession in Bangladesh. He thanked the organisers for arranging this conference and hoped that the conference would create a common platform for young law academicians to develop legal research.
DU Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall holds cultural programme
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of Dhaka University (DU) organised its annual cultural programme and prize giving ceremony of internal sports and literature competition. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the prizes among the participants as the chief guest at the hall auditorium on Saturday, said a press release. Provost of the Hall Prof Zakia Parveen presided over the function. Residential teachers and students of the hall were present at the function.
Intl confce on Engineering Technology begins at MIST
The fourth International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information and Communication Technology held at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on Thursday. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest, an ISPR press release said. Power Division secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof Dr Saiful Islam spoke on the occasion as special guests. Maj. Gen. Md Abul Khair, Commandant of MIST, was present as the chief patron of the conference. Speaking on the occasion, Yeafesh Osman said young generation has been marching fast towards development, the long cherished expectation of the nation. Our development has been possible for our national independence and this independence came into reality only for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said. The minister said this conference would bring together scientists, engineers, researchers, academia and entrepreneurs of many counties to exchange their ideas and enhance research collaboration. Researchers and professionals from different countries, including Bangladesh, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia, are participating in the conference for sharing their up-to-date knowledge and experience in the fields of Electrical, Electronic Engineering and Information and Communication Technology.
