Bangladesh Under-16 national women’s football team got off to a flying start in the AFC Women’s Under-16 qualifying round (first phase) with a massive 10-0 victory over Bahrain yesterday at the Bir Sreshtha Mostafa Kamlapur Stadium in the capital. Earlier, Zahraa Assaf scored four goals as Lebanon registered their successive second win defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 6-3 in the day’s other match of the competition.
Bangladesh girls made the encounter almost a one way traffic when Maria Manda, Anuching Mogini, Shamsunnahar (Jr) scored a couple of goals each while Anai Mogini, Sajeda Akhter, Shamsunnahar (Sr) and Touhura Khatun added one goal to down Bahrain.
Bangladesh, who qualified in the final round of last edition of the competition, this time also onset as one of the favourites to claim the first spot from the Group F while they made the encounter just a one way traffic to trounce the Bahrain.
Bangladesh opened the floodgate through Anai Mogini on 12th minute following an open chance missing of her sister Anuching Mogini two minutes earlier.
Anai found the net with an angular shot from outside the box when her pin-pointed right footer went into the top corner of far post giving Bahrain keeper no chance to stop the ball (1-0).
Captain Maria Manda doubled the advantage four minutes later when the play-maker found the opponents keeper a bit advance missed no chance to mark the target from a long range shot (2-0).
The game was playing simply at the Bahrain area for almost 90 minutes time and Bangladesh girls, who are not well physic like their Bahrain counterparts, were matured enough in ball controlling, passing and also technically and tactically superior to control the domination.
It would be a record margin against Bahrain but the forwards wasted almost half a dozen opportunities when their aimless shots from near the post missed net, at one stage it looked that players were a bit self-fish when they were trying to score at their own credit rather than to cross the ball for unmarked players at open space.
However, Anuching Mogini scored consecutive two goals when she struck her first one on 19th minute and doubled her account on 37th minute to make the team’s tally 4-0.
Shamsunnahar (jr) opened her account in the injury period of the first half when she slammed her header on a Anai Mogini cross at the edge of the box (5-0).
Bangladesh continuing the momentum added another five goals in the second half with Sajeda substitute Khatun initiated the second half scoring with nice angular shot on a Ankhi Khatun long range cross (6-0).
Shamsunnahar (jr) scored he second her seventh for the team on 56th minute two minute later when Shamsunnahar (sr) made it 8-0 with converting a penalty.
Maria scored her second goal on 66th and Tohura closed the sheet on 81st minute.
Bangladesh will face Lebanon, the other favourites of the competition tomorrow.
In the first match, apart from Zahra’s four goals, Farah El Tayar and substitute midfielder Syntia Salha scored one goal each.
Sendya Gharib Almazrouei, skipper Sahad Khaled and defender Reem Almahri reduced one goal each for the United Arab Emirates while it was their second consecutive defeat after going down to Vietnam by 4-0 in tier opening match.
