Prof Abu Taher made SEU pro-VC
Prof Dr Md Abu Taher, Professor of the Department of Management, Chittagong University, has been appointed as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Southeast University for the next four years, says a press release. On the recommendation of the Board of Trustees of Southeast University SEU, President Abdul Hamid and Chancellor of university appointed Prof Taher. Currently, he is one of the directors of the Board of Directors of Life Insurance Corporation and Academic Adviser of National Defense College. Earlier, he was the chairman of the Department of Management of Chittagong University (CU), elected Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, CU and Treasurer of Bangladesh Open University on deputation. He published more than 65 research-based articles in national and international journals, presented 28 papers in international conferences and published 8 books at honours and Master's levels.
RUET admission test Oct 21
RAJSHAHI: Admission test for the first year BSc Engineering courses in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) under its 2018-19 academic session will be held on October 21. Process of application form has been started. Among the applicants, 8,000 students will be scrutinized on basis of their results obtained in SSC and HSC examinations, said RUET sources. List of eligible students will be published on October 4 and they have to collect their respective admit card from RUET’s website from October 8 to October 13 (5pm). Sources said the admission test will be held for 1,235 seats in 14 departments this year. Detailed information about admission test will be available at www.ruet.ac.bd/admission.
KU online admission process begins
Khulna: The application for admission to first-year honours courses under the 2018-19 academic session of Khulna University (KU) is now available online. The online application process will continue till October 15 next, said a press release on Saturday. It said the admission test will be held on November 17. The admission-related detailed information is available at the official website of the university --www.ku.ac.bd.
‘Science for mankind’ exhibition held at DU
With a view to motivating the youngsters to research in science and technology, a research project exhibition titled ‘Science for mankind’ was held at Dhaka University (DU). Department of Biomedical Physics and Technology of DU, EMK Centre, Dhaka University Science Society and Relevant Science and Technology Society, Bangladesh jointly organised the function titled, ‘Manusher Jonno Biggan'(Science for mankind) at Curzon hall. Professor Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of DU, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Dr. K Siddique-e Rabbani, Honorary Professor at the Department of Biomedical Physics and Technology coordinated the programme. Professor Mohammad Abdul Aziz, Dean, Faculty of Science was also present, among others. The exhibition was followed by a cultural event.
