Tasfia Amin, a schoolgirl who was found dead in Patenga on May 2 last, committed suicide by drowning herself, according to a police report, reports UNB. Abu Bakar Siddique, additional deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), said Detective Branch sub-inspector Swapan Kumar submitted the final report to the prosecution section of the court yesterday. Drowning was mentioned as the reason for the death, he said.
During the investigation, a total of 16 people, including six eyewitnesses, gave their depositions, Abu Bakar said, adding that viscera report also stated that she drowned in water.
"Following the statements of 16 witnesses and the postmortem report, we've reached the conclusion that Tasfia committed suicide by drowning herself," he said.
Meanwhile, family members of the schoolgirl rejected the police report, saying they will file a no-confidence petition with the court.
