Theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad will stage its 41st production ‘Gunjan Bibir Pala’ today at 7pm at the Baily Road’s Mahila Samity Mancha. The play will be brought to the stage as a part of the three-day theatre festival ‘Kochi Memorial Theatre Festival’. Padatik Natya Sangsad has arranged the festival from September 13 to 15 to mark the 16th death anniversary of noted thespian Abu Mohammad Murtayish Kochi, who was one of the founding members of Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) and founding organising secretary of the Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation.
Written and directed by Sayik Siddiqui, the play ‘Gunjan Bibir Pala’ is designed like a traditional pala–a folk theatre form of rural Bengal. The probable cast of the play includes Mominul Haq Dipu, Moshiur Rahman, Sayeeda Shamsi Ara, Zinia Azad and others. Sanjib Kumar Dey has designed the stage, while Atiqul Islam Joy has designed lights. Choreographed by Sayeeda Shamsi Ara, the music for the play has been done by Hamidur Rahman Pappu and Monir Dewan.
