Barishal: Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla visited Barishal on September 8-9, reports UNB. During his visit, he attended a number of events, said a press release of the High Commission of India. On September 8, a function was organised in Barishal to distribute scholarship to 120 wards of freedom fighters. Currently two schemes are being implemented and 12,621 students have been benefitted so far. An amount of BDT 21 crore has been disbursed till date. A similar function has been planned in Sylhet. Government of India awards scholarships to wards of Muktijoddhas in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, it said.
