Armed robbers hijacked a cattle-laden truck after assaulting four traders at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city early yesterday. Police said the incident occurred when the traders were transporting 16 cattle from Jhenidah district to be sold at Merul Badda market around 12.30 am. According to the victims, a gang of armed snatchers waylaid their truck on Manik Mia Avenue. The hijackers forced the four traders—Thandu Miah, Masum, Sujon and Tanjirul—to get down from the truck. The miscreants then forced them into another truck after beating them severely. The gang fled with the cattle-laden truck and also took along Sujon and Tanjirul with them.
