Sylhet Division compiled a healthy total of 352 for eight against Chittagong Division at the close of the second day of the first round of the Tier-2 match in the Walton National Cricket League (NCL) at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah yesterday. At Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi Division were batting in their second innings as they required 334 runs to win against Barisal Division.
Khulna Division have a deficit of 19 runs to take the first innings lead against Dhaka Division in a Tier-1 match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Elsewhere, at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Rangpur Division took a paltry lead of 28 runs against Dhaka Metro.
Chittagong vs Sylhet
Resuming the second day on 240-4, Sylhet Division added 112 runs at the cost of four wickets. After Rajin Saleh and Ruman Ahmed, Rahutul Ferdous struck half-centuries. Overnight batsman Rajin Saleh finally scored 74 off 236, where he faced 13 balls to make two runs with his overnight 72. Ruman Ahmed, the other unbeaten batsman, finished with 80 to add 10 runs.
Together with Abul Hasan Raju, Rahatul made 67-run partnership for the seventh wicket, which passed the 300-run mark. Raju scored 32 off 59 with five boundaries before being caught. Rahatul smashed eight boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 73-ball 56.
After 30.2 overs, the umpires called off the match of the Day-2 due to bad light and countrywide rain at 4:50pm.
Barisal vs Rajshahi
Rajshahi fell into the spur of Towhidul Islam’s furious pace-bowling and skittled out for 93 following Barisal Division’s first innings total of 302. Towhidul finished his figure with 15-4-31-6. He was supported by Golam Kabir, who snapped up three for 11. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim made the highest 32 for the local side.
In second innings, Barisal scored 160 for all-out, where Mosaddek Hossain, who slammed the first century in the current league, top-scored with 40.
Sanjamul Islam picked up four for 49. Farhad Reza and Farhad Hossain claimed three wickets apiece for Rajshahi. Rajshahi in reply scored 19 with no wickets, where Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 19, Jahurul Islam was nine not out.
Khulna vs Dhaka
Dhaka Division ended their first innings with 187, where they added just 13 runs on the Day-2. Mustafizur Rahman and Abdur Razzak extended their wicket tally to four each for Khulna. In reply, Khulna Division finished the second day with 168-4. Mehedi Hasan struck 53 off 113, clobbering eight fours and one six so far. Imrul Kayes cracked 29 and Tushar Imran hit 26. Mithun Ali was 21 not out, while Nurul Hasan remained not out on 25.
Metro vs Rangpur
Riding on Dhiman Ghosh’s unbeaten 85, Rangpur Division put on 266 for five after Dhaka Metro’s first innings collection of 238. Resuming the day-2 on 12-0, Rangpur added 254 runs. Both Naeem Islam and Mahmudul Hasan missed their half-centuries. Islam fell for 46 and Hasan chipped in with 41.
Dhiman Ghosh faced 111 balls to be unbeaten on 85. He blasted 13 fours as many as one sixes. Ariful Haque was on 48 off 99 not out. Mohammad Shahid and Elias Sunny bagged two wickets each for Dhaka Metro.
