Gazipur mayor takes charge today

GAZIPUR: Jahangir Alam, who sworn in as the new mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) after winning the June 26 election, takes charge of the office today, reports BSS. On the occasion, an installation ceremony will be held at Vawal Rajbari Field here around 11 am. Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain will be present as the chief guest.

Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Syeed Khokon, Khulna City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, and Narayanganj City Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, Advocate Rahmat Ali, MP, and Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, among others, will be present.

Jahangir, an Awami League nominated candidate, won the June 26 election to become the second mayor of the Gazipur City Corporation.
