3 cops suspended over escape of accused

Three policemen were suspended over escape of an accused from the office of Detective Branch (DB) of police in Chuadanga.

   Police constables Masud Rahman, Jahidul Islam and Mahmud Hossain were suspended on charges of negligence of duty, said Chuadanga Police Super Mahbubur Rahman.

  A four-member probe committee headed by Additional Police Super Kalimullah has been formed to investigate the incident.

     SP Mahbubur Rahman said a team of district DB police arrested the accused Jahid Hossain, 30, son of Mukul Hossain of Korchadanga village in Jibannagar upazila,  from Andulbaria area of the upazila with firearms on Saturday night.

    He was kept at DB office on Sunday for interrogation.

But, he managed to flee from the police custody at night.
