RU Eid vacation begins today
RAJSHAHI: Classes and examinations of Rajshahi University (RU) will remain suspended from September 20 to 30 on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha, a RU press release said here yesterday. But, the RU offices will remain closed from September 22 to 29. All the student dormitories will remain closed from September 21 to 29. The residential students have been asked to vacate their halls by 12 noon on September 21. The halls will be reopened at 9 am on September 30, the release added.
South Sudanese team meets DU VC
A nine-member delegation, led by Prof Lokulenge Lole Timayo, Chairperson of Relief and Rehabilitation Commission of South Sudan, paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique on Thursday at his office. Prof Dr AQM Mahbub of the Department of Geography and Environment of DU was present on this occasion. During the meeting they discussed various issues including disaster management, water management, agriculture, rural development and other humanitarian issues of Bangladesh and South Sudan. The Sudanese delegates expressed their satisfaction over rapid development at different sectors specially food and agriculture, science and technology, education and research in Bangladesh. They also expressed their willingness to gather knowledge and experience from Bangladesh and desired to establish long-term collaboration with Dhaka University.
In’l peace lecture to be held today
The '12th Gyan-Sohagi International Day of Peace Lecture-2015' will be held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University today ( September 20). Marking the International Day of Peace on September 21, Peace and Conflict Studies department of DU with the assistance of Gyan-Sohagi Smriti Trust Fund will organise the programme. DU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique will attend the programme as the chief guest with Chairman of Gyan-Sohagi Memorial Trust Fund and DU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmed in the chair. Arts Faculty Dean Prof Dr M Akhtaruzzaman will attend the programme as the special guest while Professor Emeritus of Dhaka University Dr Anisuzzaman will deliver the memorial lecture titled "The Present World and World Peace."
Orientation held at NSU
North South University (NSU) organised an orientation ceremony to introduce all faculty members, on its Bashundhara campus yesterday, says press release. BOT Chairman, NSU M A Kashem addressed the gala gathering as the chief guest. Among others Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami, VC- in charge delivered speech as the special guest.
