A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-10) mobile court seized medicines worth around Tk 20 lakh from Babu Bazar drug market in the capital and fined each shop Tk 1 to 3 lakh to 7 shops on charges of selling the unapproved and contrband. A Rab-10 team along with executive magistrate Md Sarwoer Ahmed conducted the drive in the Lalbag area of the capital at around 1pm. During the drive, the law enforcers identified more than 30 types of medicines, which were not approved from the Drug Administration. The mobile court sealed off 7 medicine shops of Suresshory and Ali Drug market in Lalbag area. The magistrate said that Ghono Chini which was banned in Bangladesh in 1982 for its harmful effect to human body. But some of the medicine dealers still marketing it (Ghono chini) illegally. “We will continue our mission to detain the main culprits who are involved in producing and marketing the contraband medicines across the country” he added.
