Today is the 120th birth anniversary of Abul Mansur Ahmad, a renowned litterateur and journalist, says a press release. One of the greatest satirists of Bengali literature, Abul Mansur Ahmad was also a renowned politician and a leading journalist. He was born in Dhanikhola village of Mymensingh on September 3,1898. In 1946, he was the founder editor of daily Ittehad from Kolkata, and had earlier worked at the daily Krishak and Navajug and many other periodicals. A successful politician, Abul Mansur Ahmad was the provincial education minister in the United Front cabinet under Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq and the central commerce and industries minister in the Awami League government of Prime Minister Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy. A memorial programme will be held on September 8 at 4:00 pm at Abdul Karim Sahityabisarad Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
