RANGPUR: Bangladesh Railway (BR) has penalised 209 passengers of five trains over Taka 1.06 lakh for traveling without tickets on different routes under Lalmonirhat railway division, reports BSS.
“Led by Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Traffic Superintendent of BR Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi, we conducted the daylong special ticket checking drives on the route from Lalmonirhat to Bamondanga on Saturday,” BR’s Assistant Traffic Superintendent Sajjat Hossain today said.
During the drives, the BR officials found 209 passengers of two intercity trains ‘Kartoa Express’ and ‘Lalmoni Express’ and three commuter trains were travelling without tickets. The officials fined them Taka one lakh six thousand and 70 on the spots.
“The special ticket checking drives will continue in different trains on various routes under Lalmonirhat railway division in future,” said BR’s Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Traffic Superintendent Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi.
