468kg drugs seized at Dhaka airport

Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) on Friday seized 468-kg new psychoactive substances (NPS), a new kind of drugs made in Ethiopia, from the cargo village area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports BSS. Confirming the report to BSS, Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) additional director (intelligence) Md Nazrul Islam Shikder said the drugs works like yaba and looks like green tea powder.

 “Acting on tip-off, Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) team raided cargo village area at around 3.15 pm yesterday and seized the drugs in abandoned condition. The consignment was scheduled to come three days earlier but the drug traders changed the date and even the airlines to deceive the DNC,” he said. Shikder further said the drug traders brought the drugs under the cover of green tea and was planning to smuggle it to neighboring countries. The consignment was sent from Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for Nawahin Enterprise in Dhaka.
