Awami League presidium member and 14-party grand alliance coordinator, Mohammad Nasim, yesterday called upon the alliance leaders not to make any "needless comment" against each other, as it will only help to develop cracks in the alliance. “Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at the latest ALCWC meeting, had requested her party leaders not to make indiscriminate comments against alliance partners. "You (alliance leaders) too should not do so for the sake of keeping our alliance intact,” he said.
He was addressing a meeting organised by the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Chikitshok Parishad, marking the 40th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at the city’s Diploma Engineers’ Institute.
The Workers' Party of Bangladesh general secretary, Fazle Hossain Badsha, had said on Friday that there is no use keeping the alliance intact, as the AL does not bother to discuss any matter with its alliance partners before taking a decision.
Nasim, who is also the health minister, assured those present that the AL-led 14-party grand alliance would remain intact until the BNP-Jamaat is defeated.
At the same discussion, information minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president, Hasanul Haque Inu, said there is no place for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her elder son Tarique Rahman in the politics of Bangladesh.
