Robbers looted TK 21 lakh from Rajarhat branch of Agrani Bank in Sadar upazila of Jessore district early yesterday, reports UNB. The heist came to light when local people found the grill of a window of the state-owned bank broken in the morning. Shikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said the burglars looted TK 21 lakh breaking the bank vault sometime at night. They cut the metal grill of a window to enter the bank and attacked the Ansar and VDP members who were posted at the bank as security guards. They tied up the two guards before breaking into the vault, said police. According to the two Ansar members, at least six people, armed with local weapons, took part in the robbery, said police. Being informed by local people, police rescued the night guards. They were later questioned by police. Confirming the matter, Shafin Mahmud, assistant superintendent of police, said police are investigating the incident.
