Saikat slams ton as Barisal amass a mammoth total

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat’s 122 steered Barisal Division to score a mammoth 302 against Rajshahi Division on the first day of the maiden round in the Tier-2 match of the National Cricket League at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi yesterday.
At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Sylhet Division put on 240-4 against Chittagong on the close of the Day-1.
Mahmudul Hasan’s five-for guided Rangpur Division to skittle Dhaka Metro out for 238 in the Tier-1 match on the first day at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Elsewhere, at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, Dhaka Division scored 174 for eight at the end of the Day-1 against Khulna Division.
Rajshahi vs Barisal
The Visiting side got off to a solid start as they scored 73-run in the opening stand between Shahriar Nafees (75) and Pinak Ghosh (21). But Sanjamul Islam made his inroad when he removed Ghosh and Fazle Mahmud (14) in the space of 22 runs. The left-arm spinner, who mostly shone for Rajshahi, scalped six wickets for 123.
Mosaddek Hossain Saikat appeared in the wicket when the visitors were crawling on 96-3 in 32.4 overs. He stitched a couple of successful partnerships including a 67-run with Sohag Gazi for the fifth wicket, which crossed the 200-run mark. He hit another 43-run with Shahriar Nafees for the fourth wicket stand. Saikat was the last batsman, who fell for 122 off 149, clobbering six big shots over the ropes as well as 11 boundaries.
In reply, Rajshahi were 19-2 with Jahurul Islam scoring eight and Nihaduzzaman was on four not out.
Chittagong vs Sylhet
Despite being lost early wickets, Rajin Saleh and Ruman Ahmed kept them on course. National discard Rajin Saleh faced 223 balls to make an unbeaten of 72 with six fours and one six so far. Ruman Ahmed struck 70 to be remained unbeaten.
Nabil Samad and Merajul Haque took two wickets each for Chittagong.
Rangpur vs Metro
Dhaka chose to bat and lost their three top-order batsmen inside 60. Marshal Ayub hit a 68-run with Shamshur Rahman Shuvo for the fourth wicket and another 44-run with Elias Sunny for eighth wicket stand. The trio slammed half-centuries before being dismissed. Marshal plundered 65, Shuvo struck 54, while Sunny made 52 (not out).
Mahmudul Hasan with a fine piece of bowling bagged five for 44. Sajedul Islam and Saddam Hossain took two wickets apiece for Rangpur.
Khulna vs Dhaka
Dhaka Division decided to bat after winning the toss and finished the day with 174-8 in 62.2 overs. Saif Hasan struck 68 off 123 with 10 fours before dismissed. Nadif Chowdhury remained unbeaten on 35.
Abur Razzak and Mustafizur Rahman, who sparkled for Khulna, snapped up three wickets each.
