Kayes looks to make a room in ACC Asia Cup team

The 12th edition of the 50-over World Cup is brewing as only 10 more months left for the extravaganza event, which will be hosted by England and Wales in United Kingdom (UK).

However, many rumours and discussions centering this World Cup have been started at different platforms. But Bangladesh top-order batsman Imrul Kayes is reluctant to think much about the World Cup right away.

Bangladesh have a tight schedule ahead in international cricket what will be opened in September with Asia Cup Cricket tournament. Actually they will be in games in a row till the World Cup.

The left-handed batsman has been included in the 31-member Bangladesh primary squad for the Asia Cup. The practice camp for all the Asian competition, which will be started with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka clash on September 15, will begin today.

Imrul took his first individual practice session after the Eid vacation appeared at National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground in Mirpur, where he poured his sweat by batting for a longer period. And then, he spoke to media and said that he does not think much about the next World Cup- England and Wales in United Kingdom (UK) 2019.

He also said that he wants to strengthen his batting by amending his weakness ahead of the World Cup.

“Every player has some weaknesses. I think this weakness is seen more or less in batting. Such weakness might be remained in every batsman,” said Imrul Kayes, who played so far 34 Tests along with 70 ODIs and 14 T20Is for the Tigers.

“And, I don’t think much about the 2019 World Cup now because many more things might be changed within the next10 months,” Kayes told media after his personal practice session in Mirpur yesterday.

“But I’ll try my best to utilse the chance when it comes to me. Despite being included in the team, a player could not get chance to play due to injury or other reasons. So, I think it would be better for me to think series by series not to think much about World Cup,” he added.

The left-handed batsman said that he always keep him prepared for the game so he could capitalize the chance when it comes to him.

“Playing World Cup is a matter of luck what a player may miss sometimes. So, I always keep prepared myself for the games so I could capitalise the opportunity when it comes to me from the national team. So, I always try to make myself fit for the games,” the 31-year-old batsman said.

“You all know that I didn’t get chance to play any match though I went to West Indies tour. After being returned home from West Indies, I’ve personally practiced before the vacation of the Eid. Then I went out of Dhaka for the treatment in the middle of the time. Actually I will practice as much as I am in the national team,” he also said.

“Every cricketer has a plan to play better cricket for the country. I am also prepared myself in that way. Someone becomes successful and someone can’t succeed. I am preparing myself in that way,” he concluded.
