RAJSHAHI: Activities at all the government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, resumed today with a low attendance of staff in Rajshahi after the five-day
vacation for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha that included a two-day weekend, reports BSS.
Attendance at the City Corporation Bhaban, divisional commissioner’s and deputy commissioner’s offices, Rail Bhaban, Bangladesh Water Development Board, Sericulture Building, Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Headquarters and Roads and Highway building was also thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return.
Officials said this situation would continue for one or two more days. The offices and courts will get their old look back after the next couple of days as many of the officials and staff managed some extra leaves.
However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose off their pending urgent works on the opening day yesterday.
Meanwhile, festive mood is prevailing at most of the offices. Officials and staff were seen exchanging Eid greetings and embracing and hugging each other.
The holiday-seekers, who went to their villages to celebrate the Eid with their relatives, have started to return to their working places.
The city streets still remain free from the usual chaotic snarl-up. Many people especially the teenagers are still celebrating the Eid festival in the city. They were seen visiting the amusement spots especially the bank of the river Padma with joy and enthusiasm making the spots overcrowded.
