Youth electrocuted in Barisal
A young man was electrocuted in Kaunia area  in Barisal yesterday morning. The victim was Samrat, 30, a resident of Kaunia Housing area of the town. Police said Samrat was critically injured as he came in contact with a live electric wire while he was repairing an electric line of his house.  He was taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Body recovered from river

Police recovered the body of a man from the Buriganga River in Pangaon area on Wednesday night. The identity of the body  could not be known immediately. Locals spotted the floating body in the river at night and informed police.  On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.  Mohammad Shamsul Alam, sub-inspector of Hasnabad river police outpost confirmed the incident.

Man killed in road crash

An official of the health department was killed in a road accident in Jakiganj municipality area in Sylhet  on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was Bidhan Chandra Pal, 52, assistant health inspector and a resident of Barochalia village of the upazila.  Locals said a speedy human hauler knocked down the motorcycle Bidhan was riding in the area while he was coming to Jakiganj in the afternoon, leaving him seriously injured.  He was rushed to a health complex from where he was shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical Collage. Later, he succumbed to his injures at the hospital at about 8:00 pm.

Ctg DB office catches fire

The office of the Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. Fire service sources said the fire originated from electric short circuit of an air-conditioner at Bomb Disposal Unit of DB, at city's Laldighi area around 4.15pm. Two units of firefighters from Nandankanon Fire Station rushed to spot and brought the fire under control around 4.35pm.
