The British Council has invited application from the English language teaching professionals around the world for ELTons 2016. The English Language Teaching Innovation Awards (ELTons) are the only international awards that recognise and celebrate innovation in English language teaching (ELT) from around the world. They reward educational resources that help English language learners and teachers to achieve their goals. The awards, run by the British Council and sponsored by Cambridge English Language Assessment and Macmillan Education, are now in their 14th year, says a press release. English language teaching (ELT) professionals can apply in five categories: Excellence in course innovation, Innovation in learner resources, Innovation in teacher resources, Digital innovation, and Local innovation, as well as The Macmillan Education Award for New Talent in Writing. Applications will be judged by a panel of ELT experts and the winners are announced at a prestigious ELTons awards ceremony, to be held in London in June 2016. Besides, submissions for the ‘Macmillan Education Award for New Talent in Writing’ are welcome from aspiring ELT authors who may have chosen to self-publish or make their voices heard through different media such as blogs.
