A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives sealed off an ice-cream and two curd factories at Badda in the capital yesterday for manufacturing food items in unhygienic conditions.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Deputy Director Major Makshodul Alam told The Independent that on secret information, a team of RAB-2 raided the Shaon Curd and Fahim Curd factories at Badda in the capital yesterday.
After searching the factories, they found that the staffs of the factories were manufacturing curds in an unhygienic condition, said Major Makshod.
RAB seized 100 kilograms of curds. Later, the mobile court, led by executive magistrate Mohammad Helal Uddin, fined the owners of the factories Al Amin and Faisal Ahmed Tk 7,000 each, in default of which they will have to serve seven days in jail.
In another drive, a team of RAB-2, led by Deputy Director Didarul Alam, raided an unnamed ice-cream factory in capital’s Badda area and seized 20,000 pieces of ice-cream.
RAB members found that without BSTI approval, ice-creams were being manufactured inside the factory using chemicals and unpurified water.
Later, RAB mobile court sealed off the factory and fined its owner Md Shahidullah Tk 50,000, in default of which he will have to serve seven days in jail.
