Bangladesh stormed into the final of the SAFF U-15 Women's Championship trouncing Bhutan 5-nil in the second semifinal at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu yestreday. Mogini twins--Anai Mongini, Anuching Mogini-- and Touhura scored one goal each to lead Bangladesh by 3-0 in the first half while Maria Manda and Shaheda added one each in the second half to make the final sheet reach 5-nil.
Bangladesh, who dumped Pakistan 14-0 in their opening match and blanked Nepal 3-0 to move into the semifinals as Group B champions, outplayed Bhutan playing almost a one-sided game during the entire 90 minutes semifinal match. Predictably, Bangladesh began the match in style with attacking approach and took the control just after few minutes. Though Bhutan took some attempts to repay the goals, the attacking attitude lasted for only 10 minutes.
Bangladesh’s girls, after taking the command of the game, took the lead on the 18th minute through Anai Mogini, who beat the Bhutan goalkeeper from a long range strike.
Defender Anani Moguni, who often overlapped, got the ball possession at least 10 meters away from the box and marked the target with a brilliant right footer (1-0).
After taking the lead, Bangladesh played with full dominance. But it took 20 minutes to double the advantage when Anai Mohinis’ sister Anuching Mogini made the tally 2-0 with an excellent side volley when a ball from the defense dropped in front of her at the penalty-arch and the stylist forward volleyed home giving no chance to the goalkeeper on the 38th minute (2-0).
Tohura Khatun made the tally 3-0 later from a close range attempt when Shamsunnahar provided the ball taking the lapse of opponents’ keeper and Tohura after receiving the pass kept her cool to smash the ball past the near post on 43rd minute (3-0).
