Fabio Lopez, the newly appointed head coach of Bangladesh, watched his boys yesterday when he had conducted the first practice session at the Astroturf, adjacent to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban. Meanwhile, the two other coaching staff to assist Italian coach Fabio Lopez also joined the team yesterday. The two supporting staffs arrived here on Wednesday evening.
Lopez, after the two hour practice session told the reporters that it was too early to comment all about the players and also difficult to judge all 41 players’ quality after the very first day watching in the short session. But he thinks that the players looked to be keen to learn.
“It is the first day, right now it is not possible to comments about the all the situation about the players. After some sessions, it will be come clear to say something but though first day, we had good time.” “It is not possible to set the full programme right now after watching first day, we just see these four days like scouting. Four days is not enough time, so we are hastened to do these works.”
“First of all we will work with fitness, tactics, technique and individual skills and capabilities and players will be given chances considering all of these qualities,” said Lopez. “Everyday, there will be practice with the ball and will be match to watch the players performance, ability, techniques. In fact within four days time it is something difficult to select the right players, might be I would make mistakes but it would be our utmost try to pick up the best players to form best possible team,” Lopez replied to a query.
Lopez, who earlier expressed his disappointment after watching the World Cup qualifying matches of Bangladesh against Jordan at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and Australia in Perth, said about his strategy whether he likes attacking or defensive approach, said, “Attacking or defensive is not a big matter, but to make the strategy after watching the opponents.” Lopez and Co. will start their journey with the match against Kyrgyzstan on October 13 in Bishkek. The national camp will be shifted to Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP) from September 20, might be from 41-man squad will be reduced before going to BKSP.
Lopez divided the team in two groups in the first day’s one and half an hour training session. One group was comprised with the players who played in the Jordan-Bangladesh match and the other with the players who did not play that match and the players who had fresh call.
Rezaul Karim, one of the veteran national defenders, who had recall, said, “Coach looked very friendly but was strict on duty.” Meanwhile, newly called Jewel Rana said that he enjoyed the day’s training session, the youngster said, “I enjoyed the first day’s training session, it was good, we have no problem to communicate, specially, for language, we could understand him. Everything will be more clear after having some times.”
