The second Maitree Express between Khulna and Kolkata is likely to hit the rail tracks in 2016 as India has agreed to consider Bangladesh’s proposal in this regard, sources at the Prime Minister’s Office has said.
All issues will be discussed in the next ‘Inter-Governmental Railway Meeting (IGRM)’ to be held in Dhaka.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held on August 27 at the PMO to follow-up on the decisions taken during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dhaka in June.
During his visit to Bangladesh, Modi agreed to consider Bangladesh’s proposal to introduce the second Maitree Express.
