The High Court yesterday directed the government to appoint the deprived candidates, who were selected in 2012 through exams for the post of assistant teacher at the registered primary schools in different districts, within two months, reports UNB. An HC bench comprising by Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Qazi M Ezarul Haque Ananda passed the order after hearing on 367 writ petitions. The concerned lawyers said there are nearly 10,000 deprived candidates under the 367 writ petitions as many plaintiffs collectively filed the petitions.
Talking to reporters, adv M Siddique Ullah Miah, who is a lawyer on behalf of 3000 candidates, said “there are nearly 3000 candidates under my 29 writs. Nearly 10, 000 candidates might be included under the 367 writs.”
Deputy attorney general Amatul Karim led the hearing for the state. On April 9 in 2012, the government had published merit list of 42, 611 candidates for the post of assistant teacher of the registered primary schools. In the first phase, some 8,000 candidates out of the merit list had been appointed from the panel and later several thousand more candidates were appointed. The rest were supposed to be appointed by five years but it later was closed after the government nationalized all registered primary schools. Later, the panel-based selected candidates filed separate writ petitions with the HC at different times. The HC issued a rule asking for an explanation as to why they will be appointed after hearing on the petitions.
