The ruling Awami League yesterday submitted its annual financial report for the year 2017 to the Election Commission. A four-member AL delegation, led by party office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, handed over the financial report to Helaluddin Ahmad at the EC Secretariat.
According to the report, the income and expenditure of the Awami League has increased compared to the same in 2016. The ruling party earned about Tk. 20.25 crore, while it spent Tk. 13.63 crore in 2017. So, the party had a surplus of Tk. 6.61 crore in the year.
As per the information of the EC, the AL had earned Tk. 4.84 crore and spent Tk. 3.18 crore in 2016.
Talking to reporters at the EC Secretariat, Abdus Sobhan Golap said: “We submitted our party’s annual financial report for 2017. The party earned a handsome amount last year and we spent the money on various programmes, including arrangements of meetings and rallies.”
The AL earned mostly from its leaders and activists as subscriptions, sale of nomination paper, membership forms, party books, and bank interest.
