All the mobile phone subscribers will have to reregister their subscriber identification modules (SIMs) and removable user identity modules (RUIMs) with the fingerprint from December 16 next, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Telecommuni-cation Regulatory Com-mission (BTRC) issued a notice in this regard yesterday.
As per the notice, the mobile phone subscribers must complete the registration process through filling up a BTRC-provided form at any customer care or service centre in person.
They will have to submit a copy of their National Identity card, it said.
The SIMs or RUIMs will be closed if anyone fails to complete the re-registration process by the stipulated time. The notice also said the National Identity Registration Wing (NID) of the Election Commission will verify the authenticity of the information.
