"Right now, you've to take the preparations keeping in mind the future challenges as the country is moving forward to become a developed one," he said.
The minister was addressing a discussion organised on the occasion of National Mourning Day commemorating the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975.
The Power Development Board (PDB) unit of Bangabandhu Engineers Council organised the meeting at Biduyt Bhaban in the city with PDB Chairman Khaled Mahmood in the chair.
The State Minister said the Father of the Nation was assassinated along with his family members by assailants at a time when he just completed the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country within three and half years' time after a nine-month war.
"The killing was carried out to stop the development of the country," he said.
