Prize giving ceremony held

The prize giving ceremony of  Walton- The Independent FIFA World Cup 2018 quiz competition was held yesterday at Beximco Media Complex in the capital.

The Independent Executive Editor Shamim Abdullah Zahedy, Humayun Kabir, executive director of Walton Group along with senior executives of The Independent handed over the prizes to the winners.

Md Shajjad Hossain, chief financial officer of the Beximco Media, Md Shahed Siddiqe, chief report of The Independent, Md Manzuul Haque, sports editor,  Md Zaglul Haider Shahed, head of sales & marketing,  Noman Bin Hossain, head of IT and Md Shafiul Alam, head of support service of the Beximco Media, were also present during the prize giving ceremony.

The quiz competition was held in two phases during the FIFA World Cup. A total of 19, 545 coupons were dropped for the first phase with 12,663 correct answers. And  The Independent received a total of 34,830 coupons in the second phase from their valued readers, of which 25,785 were correct answers.

Shamim Abullah Zahedy in his speech urged the winners and all participants in the quiz competition to develop the habit of reading English newspaper rather then concentrating on quiz contest. “It think the habit of reading daily English newspapers would help you to people to enrich your English knowledge and also build your profession.” He thanked all winners and all participants in the quiz competition.

Humayun Kabir assured The Independent to continue this type of sponsoring the quiz competition in future. He also urged the winners of the quiz competition to read the newspaper regularly but not only participating in the quiz competition. “I think if you read this newspaper on regular basis then each of you would become the brand ambassador of this newspaper.”

Nasima of Dhaka and Sajib of Rangpur  became the lucky winners of first prize  of the first and second phase respective.
