Tareque Masud, Mishuk Munier to be remembered today

The seventh death anniversary of renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud and cinematographer Mishuk Munier will be observed today.

On the occasion, Tareque Masud Memorial Trust (TMMT) and Moviyana Film Society Bangladesh are jointly organising a memorial lecture titled ‘Tareque Masud Memorial Lecture 2018’. The lecture will be held today at 5pm on the premises of Tareque-Mishuk memorial installation, near the Shamsunnahar Hall of Dhaka University. Filmmaker Akram Khan will speak on ‘Desh Bhager Chalachitra: Porjalochona O Bisleshon’.

After the memorial lecture, certificate will be distributed among the students who participated in the three-day film workshop titled ‘Adam Surot Theke Runway’, focused on the films of renowned filmmaker couple Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud. Organised by Moviyana Film Society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the closing ceremony of the workshop will be held today.

Besides, Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh and Tareque Masud Memorial Trust are also jointly organising a discussion programme in memory of Tareque Masud and Mishuk Monier at 6pm at the same place.

Cultural personality and filmmaker Nasiruddin Yusuff, filmmaker Morshedul Islam, BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky and Catherine Masud will participate in the memorial discussion.

President of the Moviyana Film Society Belayet Hossain Mamun will moderate the memorial lecture while the president of Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh architect Lilun Nahar will preside over the event.

Moreover, a candle-lighting programme will be held at 7pm in memory of Tareque Masud, Mishuk Monier and all the persons who died in a road crash on August 13 in 2011.

To note, Tareque Masud and Mishuk Munier died in a tragic road accident while returning from the shooting location for the feature film ‘Kagojer Phul’ (The Paper Flower).
