The government has decided to increase the number of seats by 500 for MBBS course in government medical colleges from 2018-19 academic session, reports UNB.
The decision was taken a meeting held at the Secretariat yesterday with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair, said a PID handout.
There are currently 3,318 seats in all 31 medical colleges and the number will reach 3,818 with the addition of 500 more seats, said a PID handout.
The government has taken the decision to ensure quality medical education and health care for people at upazila and union levels.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque and Chittagong Medical College Vice-chancellor Dr Ismail Khan were, among others, present at the meeting.
