Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday arrested four people, including a doctor, from Mohakhali DOHS area in the capital in connection with their alleged attempt to leak question papers of MBBS admission tests.
Of the arrestees, Jashim Uddin and Dr ZMA Salehin Shovon are the gang leaders while the rest were identified as Sanowar Hossain and Aktharuzzaman Khan Tushar, RAB Deputy Director of Legal and Media Wing Major Maksudul Alam said.
A team of RAB-2 launched a drive in the area yesterday morning and arrested the four, Alam added.
The MBBS admission test is scheduled to be held at different centres across the country on Friday.
The law enforcers seized 13 bank cheques worth Tk 1.2 crore and 88 copies of admission question papers.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees said Sanowar is a teacher of E Haque Coaching Center in the city while Tushar is the managing director of Laili- Abed Construction Company.
One or two days ahead of the tests, the arrestees planned to assemble admission seekers at different spots. They also planned to send ‘leaked’ question papers along with answer sheets to the residences of some admission seekers.
