Young fast-bowler Imran Ali Enam sneaked into the exclusive training programme of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), High Performance, along with other fast bowlers according to their potential.
The intensive training programme, revived by the BCB, works in two aspects, the first of which grooming the young potential players along with immediate replacement for the national team.
This year the BCB formed a 24-member contingent with the blend of rookie and experienced players for their HP squad, from where some players meanwhile played a home series against Sri Lanka ‘A’ team and some are now touring in Ireland with Bangladesh ‘A’ Team.
The newly-formed team will make their tour in Sri Lanka on September 6, where they will play two four-dayer matches along with three unofficial one-day match series against Sri Lankan Emerging Team.
Imran Ali Enam said that they want to triumph both series against the hosts Emerging Team as the team goal but he wants to be leading wicket-taker of the tour as his personal goal.
“I’ll seek that my team wins in both series,” said Imran Ali, who dreams to play for the national team in future.
“If the management picks me for the tour, I will have a personal target of course that will be the highest wicket-taker. I’m hopeful that my team will fare well in this first tour in Sri Lanka,” Enam told media after their training session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) Ground in Mirpur yesterday.
The young fast-bowler described the HP training as the essential for the young bowlers, and said that it’ll be beneficial for them if they could follow the teachings and apply it in games what they learn from the camp.
“To be honest, we had a trend, some of which have been changed. Many trainers are working here with us. We’ve worked with foreign trainers some days back,” the paceman said.
“Those who were with us have tried to motivate us. They’ve taught us what will be our food habit, diet and life-style if we could follow the guideline after finishing the stage, it’ll be helpful for us,” he continued.
“There are some more experienced players in the High Performance (HP) squad who played for the national team. We’ve Al Amin bhai with us. Some of the players, who came here from U-19 team, are in HP squad.”
“To see the potential we all have been included in this squad for the exclusive training programme. I’m personally hopeful that I will play cricket for Bangladesh team in future.”
“I’ve come back from a long-injury-layoff. This training camp was very important for me. It’s important not only for me but also other fast bowlers in the HP squad. Our first training was on fitness and then strength.”
“We’ve worked here on our skills. I think the camp was very essential for all of us. Hopefully we could perform well in the next tournament where we could play after finishing this training camp.”
