Journalist Abdul Matin Fakir, Faridpur district correspondent of The Independent passed away on Tuesday night due to old age complications at Diabetict Hospital in the town at around 9pm.
He was 78. He left behind his wife, three sons, a daughter, colleagues and host of relatives to mourn his death.
He was laid for eternal rest at Alipur Graveyard in Faridpur town after namaz- e- janaja following Zohar prayer yesterday.
Earlier, his body was brought to Faridpur Press Club (FPC) where journalists, different socio cultural bodies and organizations paid him last respect placing wreaths to his coffin.
Matin Fakir retired from Govt Saroda Sundari Mahila College in Faridpur as an Associate Professor of Social Welfare Department in 2018.
Faridpur Press Club President Md Imtiaz Hasan Rubel expressed deep shock at his death and also have shown profound sympathy to his bereaved family members.
