Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed suffered a side strain yesterday during the first match against India-A to be ruled out of Bangladesh-A team’s tour of India. The teen-age fast bowler will return home today and be replaced by 23-year old seamer Kamrul Islam Rabbi, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in an email.
Rabbi is expected to reach Bengaluru on Friday. Taskin, will be assessed by the BCB’s medical team upon arrival and his rehabilitation will be managed accordingly, the BCB email added.
It was the old side strain problem which troubled him since his international debut. The injury was to his left side, which he had injured during an ODI against India in June. He had been ruled out for 3 weeks at the time before recovering for this Bangladesh-A tour. Taskin did not bowl after his initial five-over spell, during which he dismissed India-A captain Unmukt Chand.
